Cookie Policy

Last updated 6 July 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Peritus Digital uses cookies and similar technologies on peritusdigital.com.au. For information about how we handle your personal information more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners about how their site is being used. Cookies do not typically identify you personally — they identify your browser or device.

Similar technologies include local storage (used for things like remembering your cookie preference) and web beacons. This policy covers all of these where relevant.

Cookies we use

Essential / functional

These cookies are necessary for the site to function correctly and cannot be switched off. They include session-level cookies used by our hosting infrastructure and thepd_consent key we store in your browser's local storage to remember your cookie consent choice. No personal data is collected by these.

Analytics — Google Analytics 4 & Google Tag Manager

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), loaded via Google Tag Manager (GTM), to understand how visitors find and use this site. This helps us identify which pages and tools are most useful and where we can improve.

What this collects:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Referring website or search term that brought you here
  • Browser type, operating system, and approximate geographic location (city / region level)
  • Interactions such as form submissions and tool usage events

This data is pseudonymous — your IP address is anonymised by Google before storage and we do not pass any data that directly identifies you (such as name or email) to Google Analytics. GA4 sets the following first-party cookies:

  • _ga, _ga_<container> — distinguish users and sessions (up to 2 years)
  • _gid — distinguish users (24 hours)
  • _gat — throttle request rate (1 minute)

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default (as configured in our GA4 property). Google may also process this data in accordance with its own policies.

Analytics — Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity, loaded via Google Tag Manager, to understand how visitors interact with this site. Clarity is a product analytics tool that records aggregated interaction data including heatmaps and, where enabled, session replays. It does not capture form-field content or passwords.

What this collects:

  • Mouse movements, clicks, scrolls and navigation behaviour on each page
  • Heatmap data aggregated across all visitors
  • Session recordings of on-screen interactions (no form field content)
  • Browser type, operating system, and approximate geographic location

Clarity sets the following cookies:

  • _clck — first-party; persists a Clarity user ID (1 year)
  • _clsk — first-party; identifies a session (1 day)
  • MUID, CLID, ANONCHK, SM — set by Microsoft on clarity.ms / bing.com domains; used by Microsoft to identify users across Microsoft properties

Relevant Microsoft resources:

Managing and opting out of cookies

Analytics on this site runs by default from your first visit. You can opt out at any time using the options below.

  • Cookie consent banner: When you first visit the site, a banner gives you the option to Accept or Reject analytics. ChoosingReject stops Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity from running and clears any first-party analytics cookies already set. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (pd_consent) and persists across visits.
  • Footer "Cookie settings" link: You can change your choice at any time by clicking the Cookie settings link in the site footer. This re-opens the consent banner.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to view, block or delete cookies through their settings or preferences menu. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some websites.
  • Google Analytics opt-out add-on: You can install theGoogle Analytics opt-out browser add-onto prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics across all sites that use it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use or regulatory requirements. The current version will always be available on this page, with the "last updated" date shown above.
