Frequently asked questions
01What do the Performance and SEO scores mean?
They are 0–100 scores from Google's Lighthouse tool. 90 or above is "Good", 50–89 is "Needs improvement", and below 50 is "Poor". Performance reflects how quickly your page loads for real users; SEO reflects technical signals like mobile-friendliness, crawlability and meta tags.
02What are Core Web Vitals?
Core Web Vitals are Google's three key real-world experience metrics. LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) measures how fast the main content appears; CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) measures how much the page jumps as it loads; TBT (Total Blocking Time) is a lab proxy for INP — how long the page is blocked from responding to input. Google uses these as ranking signals.
03Is this tool rate-limited? Do I need an API key?
The tool calls the Google PageSpeed Insights API without requiring you to supply a key. Google's free tier rate-limits unauthenticated requests, so if the tool reports "busy", wait a minute and try again. Results can also take 10–30 seconds because a live Lighthouse test runs in Google's cloud on every request.
04What if I want a more thorough SEO audit?
This tool checks a single page for performance and basic technical SEO signals. For a full audit — covering site structure, crawl issues, keyword gaps, backlinks and competitor benchmarking — talk to the Peritus Digital team about our SEO and web design services.
